Work Experience

CTO, since September 2016 As the CTO at Cloudaper, I took over the maintenance of the Document Manager application and led a team of full-stack engineers. We made significant improvements to the application, including implementing over 1000 automated tests, fixing security bugs, and optimizing performance. I also led API design decisions and integrations. Additionally, I managed a frontend team working on future React components.

Example Contributions: File Handling and Processing I improved the file handling and processing in the Document Manager application by migrating from Que to Sidekiq and implementing server-side mime recheck. I also enabled direct uploads to Amazon S3 to reduce the app server's responsibilities.

Example Contributions: Mailgun E-mails I enhanced the system for receiving emails in the Document Manager application to be more reliable and independent. I implemented a mechanism to download missing emails from the Mailgun Events API in case of unavailability. I also moved the email processing from Mailgun's system to a custom one.

Example Contributions: ERP Integrations I developed two ERP integration APIs for pairing documents with Vario and Money S3. I used the JSON:API specification for the design and ActionCable for WebSocket communication. The ERP extensions were developed in collaboration with partner companies.

Example Contributions: Windows Scanning Client / Research I conducted research on supporting TWAIN in the Windows scanning client. I explored using a third-party command-line utility and creating a Ruby wrapper for a C API. Although neither solution was perfect, I managed to make it work in time for a company presentation at a partner's trade fair.

Senior Software Engineer, Summer 2016 As a senior software engineer at Cloudaper, I fixed bugs, implemented small features, and conducted code reviews. I also reviewed the overall codebase of the Document Manager application for maintainability, performance, and security.

Example Contributions: Vagrant Setup I created a general Vagrant setup that could be run with both VirtualBox and libvirt.

Software Engineer, April—December 2015 As a software engineer in the Developer Experience team at Red Hat, I maintained Ruby software and libraries in Fedora and RHEL, with a focus on Ruby on Rails and Vagrant packages. I regularly fixed bugs and contributed to upstream Ruby projects. I also co-founded the Fedora Developer Portal and wrote sections on Ruby and Vagrant.

Example Projects: Vagrant-Registration / Lead Developer I developed a Vagrant plugin for Red Hat Enterprise Linux guest registrations. The plugin supported both username/password and org/activation key registration and featured interactive subscribing on Vagrant up.

Example Projects: Gem-Compare / Author I created Gem-Compare, a Rubygems plugin that compares different versions of a specified gem. It helps track changes in metadata, monitor the evolution of dependencies, and identify important changes in the gem's files.
